2. What Scrieb Does With Your Audio

Scrieb is a local-first application. All audio recording and transcription happens entirely on your device. Your audio files and transcripts are never uploaded to our servers or any third-party cloud service. We have no access to your recordings.

3. Data Collected on This Website

3.1 Server Log Files

When you visit this website, our hosting provider automatically collects: IP address, browser type and version, operating system, referrer URL, date and time of access. This data is used solely to ensure technical operation and is deleted after 7 days. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest).

3.2 Firebase Analytics (Google)

We use Firebase Analytics (Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA) to understand how visitors use our website — including page views and scroll depth. Firebase may transfer data to Google servers in the USA. Google participates in the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. Analytics cookies are set only if you accept them in the cookie banner (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, § 25(1) TDDDG). Without consent, Google Consent Mode sends cookieless, aggregated signals only. You can opt out via Google's opt-out tools: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

3.3 Ahrefs Analytics

We use Ahrefs Analytics (Ahrefs Pte. Ltd., 16 Raffles Quay, #33-03 Hong Leong Building, Singapore 048581) to measure website traffic. Ahrefs collects anonymized visitor data including page views and referral sources. No personally identifiable information is collected. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.

3.4 Stripe (Payment Processing)

When you subscribe to Scrieb, you are redirected to Stripe (Stripe, Inc., 510 Townsend Street, San Francisco, CA 94103, USA) to complete payment. Stripe processes your email address and payment details. We receive only your email and subscription status — never your card details. Stripe's privacy policy: stripe.com/privacy. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (contract performance).

4. Cookies

Visitors in Europe (EU/EEA, United Kingdom, Switzerland) see a banner on their first visit asking whether they accept non-essential cookies. Accept and Reject are equally available, and nothing non-essential runs before you choose. Outside Europe these cookies are active by default and a notice lets you opt out. We determine the region from your browser's time zone and the language version of the page; no location data is sent anywhere. Your choice is stored only in your browser (local storage key "scrieb_consent"). You can change it at any time with the "Cookie settings" link in the footer.

Only with your consent: Google Analytics via Firebase (usage statistics); the Reddit pixel (Reddit, Inc., USA) and the Quora pixel (Quora, Inc., USA), which measure whether our ads lead to visits, downloads or purchases. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and § 25(1) TDDDG; you can withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future.

Without consent: Ahrefs Analytics, which works without cookies and does not identify you; and embedded videos, which load from YouTube's privacy-enhanced domain (youtube-nocookie.com) and play only when you start them or scroll to them. The cookie choice itself is stored because it is strictly necessary to respect it.

5. Data Retention

We retain personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes described above or as required by law. Subscription-related data (email address) is retained for the duration of the subscription and deleted within 30 days of termination, unless statutory retention periods require otherwise.

6. Your Rights Under GDPR

Under the GDPR, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

7. Right of Withdrawal for Digital Subscriptions

If you are a consumer in the EU, you have the right to withdraw from a digital subscription contract within 14 days without giving any reason (right of withdrawal / Widerrufsrecht). To exercise this right, contact us at alex@scrieb.com before the 14-day period expires.
